Pissed Off Panda / What Should Be Written on Your Modern Ketubah
« Last post by Shakilmalak21 on February 27, 2013, 01:55:31 am »
One of the most important traditional customs in a Jewish wedding is the Ketubah, or Jewish marriage contract. This agreement is a document that traditionally needs to be signed by the couple as part of their wedding in front of the rabbi and witnesses. Today, many couples who are not traditionalists, perhaps not very religious, or interfaith couples, or gay couples, are creating their own modern Ketubah as part of their wedding.

What we thought / What we thought

It was, as always pretty good. The convention is small and homey. It's a relaxing, not too serious atmosphere and a lot of fun.

However, it seemed to be more like the "furry and Dr Who" convention. There were A LOT of panels on those two subjects. Overwhelmingly so.

The panels we attended were also very good.

All in all, we believe Icon to be a small, relaxing convention, with no stress or worries, and we love that about it.

Our Panels / How They Went
« Last post by administrator on May 18, 2012, 05:12:55 pm »
Our panels went off relativel without a hitch. Due to some miscommunications, we were put in rooms that were not particularly favorable sometimes. However, all of our panels went well.

Dana was a bit spazztic with her teaching during out "ParaPara" panel. However, hopefully, those people left with more knowledge than they entered with.

Our chain reaction panel was our April Fool's jok. It was supposed to be wheel of fortune! Though a bunch of our audience cleared, it was still a fun time. Cody's bonus puzzels confused EVERYONE and we were more than happy to give them. We had a lot of laughs and a lot of fun.

Our Hetalia: What Really Happened? panel was fantastic. In short, we taught a lot of young people a lot of new facts. We all feel proud, knowing we taught thw younger generation something.

Our Hetalia: Fanversion vs Actual was hilarious. We had a lot o fun talking about pairings and headcannons. It was enoyable panel, and Dana even got proposed to by another cosplayer!

Our Legends Of The Hidden Temple panel was also a success. It was fantastic, and loads of fun. We built an obsticle course and did trivia. A little boy, maybe around seven years old was so determined to win, he actually threw the key at one of our temple guards! It was a lot of fun.

Artists Alley: Could it have been any lamer? / Honestly.
« Last post by administrator on May 18, 2012, 03:48:59 pm »
Honestly. What else can I say. Honestly. There was few artists. It was like walking into a room with half of those from 2010. As a lover of the artist alley, and a fellow struggling artist, I always look forward to AnimeNEXT's artist alley. I'm hoping 2012's won't be so disappointing.

However, the artists that did show up were fantastic. Dana was able to get hypoallergentic earrings and Hayley was able to get a sweatmark hair clip. There well made hats and fantastic prints.

Fingers crossed to a bigger artist alley next year!

Masquerade / Worth it?
« Last post by administrator on May 18, 2012, 03:39:37 pm »
The answer? Yes. Actually, this year's masquerade was a bit disappointing compared to other years. There were less good, well executed acts, and more haphazard ones.

However, this also proved to be an almost good thing. When there was a good skit, it was like "a diamond in the rough" sort of deal. When they were good, they were VERY good.

Watching some of these skits actually got you out of your seat to cheer. The good skits were phenominal and exciting.

All in all, the masquerade was worth the line. Even more though, we encourage ANYONE who thinks they can do it, to get on stage next year and do a skit! We wanna see some new faces up there!

Pissed Off Panda / How did it start and what is it all about?
« Last post by administrator on May 18, 2012, 02:31:36 pm »
What is Pissed off Panda you ask? Well!

It's an adorable, fun, hilarious comic about, you guessed it, a pissed off panda. The creator, a brilliantly hilarious man, who I have had the pleasure to talk to and reinterview on multiple occasions, got the idea when he was at the store. Amoung the stuffed pandas on a shelf, was one that stood out more than the others. This panda looked rather....pissed off. So, was the "Pissed off Panda" idea born.

I won't give any more spoilers, but I highly recomend this comic about Pissed Off Panda and his friend Pig Benis.
